Narrowing your Niche…Researching Keywords

In my previous post I mentioned that I had chosen a niche to start my Affiliate Marketing campaign with. So my next step was to narrow it down and choose a product to promote. Ok, I will let you in on the niche I chose to go with. It is the Pet niche. We all know that the Pet industry is booming and there are thousands and thousands of products I could choose to promote.

First I must figure out what people are looking for. Here is a simple way to do some initial research. This simple research is taught by one of my favorite internet marketers, Lynn Terry. Lynn runs the Self Starters Weekly Tips forum. It is one of the best forums out there. She also has a free Webinar every Tuesday so be sure to check it out. Lynn Terry also has an Elite group available to those serious about their business.

Start by researching your main keyword using the Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker. Enter the keyword, in my case it is Pets, and hit enter.

Looking through this list of returned keywords, I see some common threads. There are at least a handful of keywords dealing with “exotic” pets, adopting pets, virtual pets, and more. To the left of each keyword phrase there is a number that represents the approximate number of searches per day this phrase gets. Clicking on a particular phrase, you can drill down to more specific related phrases.

I will usually follow up my keyword research using another tool. I use a tool called Market Samurai. Although this is not a free tool, it is one that I highly value. It has a ton of features that would simply take you lots and lots of time to research manually.

Now, exotic pets is not my chosen niche. But I have chose a niche in the Pet arena. Keep watching this study as I find my place in the blogosphere and build a blog focused on a product I have chosen to sell using specific keywords I have found during my research.

Part of being a member of the Wealthy Affiliate affords me to use someone elses expertise in choosing an industry to focus a campaign on. This section is called NicheQ.

This industry goes as far back as the 1600’s. It currently pertains to about

I cannot wait to get started. I am beginning my research for a more targeted campaign in this industry and will begin my keyword reasearch as soon as I choose my direction.

Are you a Bum?

So, I was doing some reading today in the Wealthy Affiliate forums. I joined this mentoring program a week ago and have learned a read lots so far. I keep hearing people mentioning the term Bum Marketing. I ignored it for a few days, but today I said to myself. What the heck are they talking about? What is Bum Marketing?

Well I did some research. Bum Marketing is a term coined by Travis Sago. Its a method so easy to use a bum on the street could use it. Travis says

“My wife (Jeannie) named this the “Bum Marketing Method” because
she thinks it is so easy that I could take a bum off the street…
take him to the public library…and have him earning cash within a week.”

So after reading that Travis offers information on the Bum Marketing Method for free, I said what the heck. I will get the free ecourse and see what its all about. I signed up for the course at www.bummarketingmethod.com. Go check it out and this is part of what you will see:

I am beginning my serious efforts in Affiliate Marketing. I recently joined the Wealthy Affiliate program and will be detailing my marketing efforts here in my blog. Why not subscribe to my blog and follow along with me.
