Have you heard the new buzzword? NAMS! NAMS! NAMS!

NAMS or otherwise known as Niche Affiliate Marketing System is a 3 day intensive hands on webinar held in Atlanta.

Are you a Beginner and want to learn more about Internet Marketing and starting your business?

Have you already started a business and are making some extra income but want to take it to the next level?

Or maybe you are making lots of money and want to mastermind with other like minded business owners….

NAMS has room for everyone with separate beginner, advanced and intermediate tracks. Each track is tought by well known gurus in the Internet Marketing sphere. And guess what? They are all available to talk to, have lunch, dinner or drinks with, learn from, network with. What other seminar could you get this from? None that I know of.

I have just returned from Atlanta after attending my first NAMS. Its was everything they said and more. I personally met Lynn Terry, Jeff Herring, David Perdew, Kevin Riley, Kathleen Gage, Aileen Bennet, Bob Jenkins, Willie Crawford and Joey Smith, just to name a few.

Every day began and ended with a motivational talk. Some of those who got us motivated were Aileen Bennet, Willie Crawford, Mark Hendricks, Kevin Riley, Kathleen Gage and others. It was a perfect start and end to the day.

While at NAMS I attended the Beginner track. We learned a lot. Starting from keyword and niche research, creating content, how to use this content, social media and how to properly use it, driving traffic, blogging, listbuilding…basically everything you need to build your business, start to profit!

My biggest take away from this event is that I need to organize my thoughts and ideas and come up with a plan and set some goals and then TAKE ACTION! Or as Jeff Herring says “GO USE THIS STUFF!”

Driving traffic to your site is one of the most important aspects of your business. Without traffic, there will be no customers. So how much traffic is your site getting? Are you driving traffic to your site like a race car or a go kart?

First, lets explore how to determine the traffic your site is getting. I use Google Analytics on all of my sites. I think I would be lost without it. Google Analytics is a powerful tool you can use with any blog or website you own. There are other stat software available. You might want to check out AWStats, StatCounter, and many others.

Once you create your profile, you are provided with some code to embed on each page of your site that you want to track visitors to. If you have a blog, most themes can use a plugin or something similar to automatically place that code on each page for you. For example, I use the Thesis theme from DIY Themes. This theme has a specific place to add in footer code. Check out the theme you are using for something similar.

Here is a great post that I found that talks in detail about setting up Google Analytics and what it can do for you. In a nutshell, you can track visitors, unique visitors, where they came from (what site was the referral), how long they stayed on your site, how many pages they read, and much more.

Once you have a Stat program tracking your site, it is time to start driving. Hop into your race car and lets gooooooo!!!!!!!

There are several ways to get traffic flowing your way.

Find other blogs in your niche and read and comment on the posts.

Become an active member in a forum (group) that deals with your niche. As you network with others in the group, answer questions and get to know the people. Make sure to setup your signature which will have a link to your blog.

Create and upload a video to YouTube.

Build a list of subscribers by giving away a freebie in exchange for them joining your list.

Make sure your blog posts use good tags for SEO optimization.

Invite a guest blogger.

This is just a starting list of ideas to help you build traffic to your site. There are many other ways that can help.

So what techniques do you employ to drive traffic to your site? Please comment below and let us know some of the cool techniques you use.

One of the most powerful tools in online marketing is to build an opt-in mailing list. An opt-in mailing list is a database of peoples’ names and email addresses that have subscribed to an email list via a web form. This gives the list owner permission to send them periodic emails on the topic they are interested in. The best part of this powerful tool is the ability to talk to people who are particularly interested in your product, service or organization.

The building of an opt-in mailing list is known as Permission Email Marketing.

There are do’s and don’ts in starting your opt-in mailing list. Here are some tips worth mentioning:

DO

Put a subscription form prominently on your website. You can create your own subscription form using a form builder. Most commonly, these are created from within iContact or aweber, which are services that are used to manage your lists.

Inform people that they can subscribe to your email list on the signature of your everyday emails. This will enable it to link straight through the form on your website.

Ask people permission if they want to be subscribed on your mailing list. As much as possible avoid being suspected for SPAM.

Open options for subscription especially during your interactions with them. Always be ready with your subscription cards if you run in on events.

Be clear on how people can benefit from subscribing and how often will you contact them. Make them know exactly what they will be receiving.

If you can, contact new subscriber as soon as you can. Welcome them with notes and tell them what to expect.

DON’T

Add everyone who has ever emailed you to your list. Always ask permission first.

Purchase lists that you are not 100% sure that are opt-in. Always have an evidence to prove the legitimacy of the opt-ins.

Abuse people’s trust. This is a sure way to ruin your brand and you. Soon enough they will ignore your messages.

Building your opt-in mailing list is cheaper than in sending direct mails. Printing, envelopes and paper used as material further add up to the cost. Here are some ways to effectively start your opt-in mailing list:

Free Newsletter. One of the most effective ways to build an opt-in list is to offer your online visitors freebies of value such as newsletter which will contain information that they can relate to such as tips, tools, recipes, travel itineraries and others.

Make it Easy to Subscribe. Provide easy steps for subscription so that subscribers may find it easy to do so and would not be discourage. For more subscribers, tell them the exact benefits they can get out of the subscription.

Quality Content. Be sure that what is written inside the newsletter, freebies and information found in your website are all of value to increase visitors dropping by your website.

Forums. Discussion boards and forums are all over the net. Try to actively participate in these boards especially those in the line of your interest or your business. Try to build your reputation with credibility.

Write articles. This makes you an instant expert in your chosen field of interest. You just have to play on it and use it well in your business goal.

Write an e-book. An excellent freebie for those who visited and subscribe in your mailing list. The e-book does not have to be expensively made or elaborate but it can be a compilation or a collection of best articles, business tips and resources.

In building opt-in mailing lists always keep in mind to offer something of value to your prospects. Remember opt-in lists are the foundations of most profitable internet business so do not miss chances for improvement and developing new strategies.

If there is anything I have learned in my past about internet marketing, or any entrepreneurial venture for that matter, is to “Just Do It!”

Lets give this some thought. There are thousands of quotes about this topic, here are just a few of them:

An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea. Buddha

You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action. Tony Robbins

I never worry about action, but only inaction. Winston Churchill

There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction. John F. Kennedy

I can go on with tons more quotes, but I am sure you get the point.

Every had to start somewhere, and just like every other new internet marketer, they had to learn the ropes. They had to TAKE ACTION! Action breeds learning! Inaction breeds stagnation!

By taking no action, no real learning process occurs. Doing IS learning and the more you do, the more you learn, the better you become, the closer you get to your goal. It’s a hard lesson to overcome, but one that essential to success.

So, everyone, take a chance, persue your dreams.

In the words of a great Internet Marketing duo, who I have had the chance to work with, Justin and Chuanna Brooke,

“All it takes is action and action builds confidence”.

Do you have a story about how you took action and succeeded?
