Today I received a book in the mail that I recently purchased. I was so excited to get started reading it.

The book is titled “What Success Takes“ by Garret Pierson. I read the first few pages and was blown away.

My first takeaway — “Failures are practice towards achieving success!”

Did you know that? After reading just this piece of the first chapter, it makes total sense.

Failures help you succeed. Fail and Fail again, they are all learning sessions for your race to success!

So, have you failed at anything? How did your failure help you to succeed?

Here is a personal story of failure breeding success…

Early on in my childhood, while taking swimming lessons one summer, it came time to learn how to use the diving board. I instantly froze. I was not the best swimmer in the world, but comfortable nonetheless. But diving off a high diving board? You have got to be kidding!

When my turn came, I hesitantly climbed the stairs of the diving board. I then hesitantly walked out onto the board. Slowly….extremely slow. I looked out and then quickly backtracked my steps and got down off the board.

During the next swimming lesson the same thing happened.

The next time, I stood out on the board a little longer. Everyone was cajoling me to jump. I was scared and got down again.

Over the next few days, I pondered why I was so afraid to jump off the board. I mean, there was a lifeguard waiting right there in the pool for me. What could happen?

The next lesson, I made it a little further but still could not do it. Finally during the next lesson, unknown to me at the time, an instructor came up behind me on the board as I stood there pondering my jump. They picked me up and tossed me off…..cruel huh? I remember falling down into the water extremely upset.

Well, I have to tell you that once I hit the water and knew I was safe, I thought to myself “that was fun”! Why was I so afraid? Well the rest of the afternoon at the pool I spent my time up and down on the board. Climbing up and jumping down!!! Success!!!

I learned a very valuable lesson that day but had I not tried so many times to jump successfully into the water, I may never have realized how fun using the diving board would be.

All this reminds me of something I remember hearing a lot as a kid — “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again!”

If there is anything I have learned in my past about internet marketing, or any entrepreneurial venture for that matter, is to “Just Do It!”

Lets give this some thought. There are thousands of quotes about this topic, here are just a few of them:

An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea. Buddha

You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action. Tony Robbins

I never worry about action, but only inaction. Winston Churchill

There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction. John F. Kennedy

I can go on with tons more quotes, but I am sure you get the point.

Every had to start somewhere, and just like every other new internet marketer, they had to learn the ropes. They had to TAKE ACTION! Action breeds learning! Inaction breeds stagnation!

By taking no action, no real learning process occurs. Doing IS learning and the more you do, the more you learn, the better you become, the closer you get to your goal. It’s a hard lesson to overcome, but one that essential to success.

So, everyone, take a chance, persue your dreams.

In the words of a great Internet Marketing duo, who I have had the chance to work with, Justin and Chuanna Brooke,

“All it takes is action and action builds confidence”.

Do you have a story about how you took action and succeeded?
