Driving traffic to your site is one of the most important aspects of your business. Without traffic, there will be no customers. So how much traffic is your site getting? Are you driving traffic to your site like a race car or a go kart?

First, lets explore how to determine the traffic your site is getting. I use Google Analytics on all of my sites. I think I would be lost without it. Google Analytics is a powerful tool you can use with any blog or website you own. There are other stat software available. You might want to check out AWStats, StatCounter, and many others.

Once you create your profile, you are provided with some code to embed on each page of your site that you want to track visitors to. If you have a blog, most themes can use a plugin or something similar to automatically place that code on each page for you. For example, I use the Thesis theme from DIY Themes. This theme has a specific place to add in footer code. Check out the theme you are using for something similar.

Here is a great post that I found that talks in detail about setting up Google Analytics and what it can do for you. In a nutshell, you can track visitors, unique visitors, where they came from (what site was the referral), how long they stayed on your site, how many pages they read, and much more.

Once you have a Stat program tracking your site, it is time to start driving. Hop into your race car and lets gooooooo!!!!!!!

There are several ways to get traffic flowing your way.

Find other blogs in your niche and read and comment on the posts.

Become an active member in a forum (group) that deals with your niche. As you network with others in the group, answer questions and get to know the people. Make sure to setup your signature which will have a link to your blog.

Create and upload a video to YouTube.

Build a list of subscribers by giving away a freebie in exchange for them joining your list.

Make sure your blog posts use good tags for SEO optimization.

Invite a guest blogger.

This is just a starting list of ideas to help you build traffic to your site. There are many other ways that can help.

So what techniques do you employ to drive traffic to your site? Please comment below and let us know some of the cool techniques you use.
